Victoria Memorial Hall is a place where the British disclosed their skills and gifted us the marble palace. This beautiful place is situated on Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Kolkata, West Bengal. It was built between 1906 and 1921. Queen Victoria once ruled our India and used to stay in this palace for a long time.
After the death of the Queen, Lord Curzon thought deeply about this palace and suggested keeping it as a beautiful monument to recall the Queen’s story. Beyond history, it enlarged the geography of India also. Nowadays Victoria Memorial Hall has worldwide popularity.

The architect of this beauty was William Emerson. It follows the style of Indo-Saracenic revivalists. The white marble is the Makrana marble. The two gardens which attract all the people are designed by Lord Riversdale and David Prain.
At the top of the middle dom, there is a figure of the Angel of Victory (16 ft). This angel is one of the main attractions of this palace. In Victoria’s gallery, we can see the pictures and paintings of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The oil painting also illustrates the lives of England and the glories of Victoria.
Now, our West Bengal Government has decorated the whole museum with pictures and documents of the great Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The courageous disappearance map of Netaji is shown on the wall of this museum. The documents of Azad Hind Fauz prolong the historic importance of this palace.
