Maybe many foreigners know that place well as it is a photogenic place and people come here to capture the beautiful moments of this scenario. Now, I want to tell you about the history of this place. The place is a wonderful film location in Kolkata.

Princep Ghat in Kolkata
You all hear the name and fame of James Prinsep. He was an English scholar, orientalist, and antiquary. His personality was as appreciated as the kind British fellows.
W. Fitzgerald designed the ghat and it was constructed in 1843. It was built along the Kolkata bank of the famous Hoogly river. The beauty of this ghat is very eye soothing. We all love to go there and spend the evening time for hours and hours just to refresh our minds.
It is located between the Water Gate and the St. George’s Gate of Fort William. During British period, Prinsep Ghat jetty was used for embarkation and disembarkation. Boating is another attraction of this renowned place.
Imagine, you are very hopeless and sad and suddenly you get a plan to visit Prinsep Ghat and do boating on a fine moonlit evening, everything surrounding you is very calm and pleasant. Yes, it’s the magic of Prinsep Ghat. Once you come to this place you will get addicted to it.
Victoria Memorial In Kolkata
A length of the 2-km pathway from Prinsep Ghat to Babughat was inaugurated on 24th May 2012. If you are interested in Indian Bollywood movies then you can find this place as a beautiful shooting spot in the film Parineeta.
A railway station, named Prinsep Ghat is one of the parts of this recreational place. It is part of the Kolkata Circular Railway maintained by the Eastern Railway.
This Ghat has a special history. There is a jetty called Man-O-War which played an important role in Second World War. Now it belongs to the Kolkata Port Trust. Indian navy used the jetty for their purposes.
Nowadays, Prinsep Ghat is a famous place for couples and photoshoots. Many couples or would-be fathers and mothers come to this place to capture the pre-wedding or pre-delivery moment to reminisce these precious moments some years later.
The sceneries of Sunset and Sun rise is too much mesmerizing from this Ghat. It fills our hearts and gives us the energy to do the work genuinely.
We are very much proud to have such a beautiful place like this. It’s my earnest request to all of you to visit this place at once and I swear you will never forget its beauty.
